Compression and axle length

I have two questions.

1. On a 1655 gas is a 185 psi compression too much for regular pump gas when using the tractor for field work?

2. I just bought a 1755 and the length of the axle sticking out of the axle housing is about 2" shorter then my 1655. It looks like there is only about 1" of adjustment for the hub on the axle. Most wheel tread adjustment will have to be made moving the rim on the wheel and turning the wheel around. Is this typical on these tractors? or do I have unusually short axles? Thanks for any help.

As far as the compression, you could try it and if you hear a pig, or spark knock, while pulling, just go to a higher octane gas. You can also bump the timing up a little bit.
