Compressor piping

Thanks to the archieves and the many contributors I have decided to use 3/4" copper for my main lines and 1/2" for the drops. Out of curiosity I have only 1 question: is there any concern when using fittings / pipe of different metal type . I've read that you shouldn't connect iron pipes to copper, and if you want to there is a die-electric union you can use etc etc.
I'm using copper pipes the filters are aluminum ??, some fittings will be brass, nipples will be black iron etc....
Is there any concern with using different metals in the compressor setups ?? If so what should I NOT do ???
OR is this insignificant ???

I don't think it is that significant of a problem since you will be runnng air and not water. As I understand it copper lines will produce less condensation that iron pipes. I would put a good filter where your air leaves the tank to catch water before it gets into the system and then another one at the outlet. On mys system I have two outlets that run air tools or a HVLP. I have a water trap on each as well as at the tank. My system is black pipe which I would not used again. Hope this helps.

Here's some info regarding copper and galvanized pipe. "Some standard reference sources (Ex: "Modern Hydronic Heating for Residential and Light Commercial Buildings") specify dielectric unions for dissimilar metal junctions on closed loop systems.

Some other authorities argue that you should not use any device which include elastomers (O rings, gaskets, etc.) in such system as the elastomers are subject to hardening as they age, and instead recommend the use of bronze or brass components at such junctions.

The supporters of dielectric junctions then argue that new synthetic materials are much less no subject to hardening.

In my area dielectric junctions are rarely used on hydronic systems, and I've not observed significant problems as a result.

OTOH pretty much everyone agrees that domestic water systems, do require dielectric junctions, and I see many problems created when they are not present."

Note the author is talking about water systems.
 
Glen is correct. Dissimilar metals electrically connected and with an electrolite is a battery cell. Air is a poor electrolite so your OK. At least for a hundred years or so.
 
Use PVC. Schedule 40 is rated for way more pressure that you will be putting thru it. Just be sure to use your primer at all the glue joints. I worked in a plant running 200 psi air and it all ran in PVC. Put your drier right after the compressor. Make sure you have adaquate hangers etc.
