I am getting a pop up screen saying my anti virous is out of date, and to buy it now. How do know this is not someone trying get me to send them money as a scam? How do I know if my computer is protected? I can take any one of my tractor motors down to the bare block, and reassemble it. When it comes to computers, and cell phones. I was at the end of the line when that information was passed out. I didn't get much. Thanks. Stan

Don't do it. There are free Anti Virus (Avast) is one. and Avast can be upgraded for modest money. Your protection needs to be updated at times, but unless you know and trust the program source don't. Image the screen when running and post it. Jim

I get them all the time. I won't call them a scam, but they're not a necessity. There are freebies you can download.

If you're using Windows, I've found no reason to use any add-on AV programs. Windows Defender has done a good job for me ever since it was introduced. Of course I also run Ad Blocker and an email ad blocker so lots of the scam stuff doesn't get by them.
