Concrete Seal Sealer

We're wanting to seal a 10 x 12 area of concrete floor at work inside the building subject only to foot traffic. Not so much to repel
water but to give it a nice color and shine. Part of the building floor was covered with an epoxy years ago and it's now popping off in
areas. I was thinking the sealer that is 20 times stronger than epoxy that you can get at ACE Hardware for garage floors. Can you put any
kind of concrete sealer over painted concrete? Any advise is appreciated.

I have never seen anything stick to concrete that has had paint.

If you want it to stick, all old coverings must be removed, surface degreased and sanded.

I never liked painted floors, They turn ugly fast in a working shop. Most of my career as a truck tec and supervisor I used a good commercial dish washer soap and push broom to clean , Hose out or use mop, than used a good commercial floor wax. Floors shined and were easily to wipe oil and grease spills up. Makes for a good clean environment to work on trucks and equipment. Keep your floors cleaned and re-wax as needed and people will comment about how shiny and clean your shop looks.

I bought my sealer at the concrete company. I like so far. It's one year old. It's called Pebble sheen.

ANYTHING paint related or type of spray or brushed on coverings applied to concrete will not last if you have high a moister content. Concrete draws moister and depending on the amount yours draw during rains or winter weather will dictate how long the covering will last..

For some paint may last for years. Others may see peeling and flaking within a few weeks.


Have you ever saw a wood deck that had that gag nasty Behr Deck Over applied to it that? The first thing they tell you to do is wash the deck.. Well the wood soaks up the water. People think its dry but it's not. So they slap it on.. I have never saw the stuff stick to any wood deck for more than a year or two. Then they are stuck looking at their ugly deck.. Concrete will do the same thingand wick moister from ths ground and air. If you do not have it moister tested to find the best product to use. You're just wasting time and money.

Some concrete sealers can become very very slick when wet. Look for one that you can add an abrasive to maintain safe traction.

If it is for your employer, look at industrial coatings and I would have it professionally installed.
