Had given up on finding an engine. Now an F 140 is available, will it exchange as to rear bell housing and crank bolt flange with F142????

Just a quick word of advice..

I don't know what you're putting the motor into, or what it was removed from, but make sure the crank is machined for a pilot bushing/bearing if your application needs one.

A friend took one into a shop and put close to 1500 bucks into it.. was gonna drop it into a Massey 30 (IIRC) and couldn't get it to go tight to the bellhousing.. slid the engine away and it had no machining in the crank for a pilot bushing..

Needless to say, that engine still sits on a pallet with NO HOURS on it in their barn, nearly 10 years later.

Suggest you contact Jerry Moon at Montes Equipment in Chicago. He is the guru on Continentals, and a very helpful guy on swaps. Sorry, I don't have link available, but check google search. Also do you have an F124 or F142?

I had an F143 sold it as a fellow talked me into selling it I have an automatic transmission from aircraft shuttle. It's 2 fwd and 2 reverse. and slower thar regular automatics. Would make a good project for small dozer, thats why I want a motor that will fit the transmission

On that Massey, cut the pilot stub off the front of the shaft and put a pilot bearing into the hole in the flywheel like a Massey 44 uses, done a few that way, works good.

I'll get inquisitive about the engine.. I know it is totally overhauled by a reputable machine shop in our area.

I also know as it is, it's not much good for them without swapping a crank.

I doubt they'll let it go, but never know (they're the kind that buy perfectly good "merchandise" and let it sit because someday they might could possibly end up using it)
