Being a 4X4 you stole it at that price.
I had the same truck with 2WD about 20 years ago, not the prettiest to look at but it would leave rubber behind like crazy in 1st and 2nd and still have enough power to chirp the wheels shifting into drive.
Hard on throttle cables if not adjusted just right, [obsolete part]

Interior looks great! Outside ain't too shabby either. Just curious, how many miles? I hope you can sleep tonight after almost stealing the thing from that poor old man! LOL Seriously, I would say you got a deal!

Nice find!!

I had both the 74 and 75 year models of that same truck. The 392 was sure a good puller. IIRC it had a 4 bbl Carter Thermo Quad carb, which frequently cracked its plastic main body. Earlier 392s used the 4 bbl Holley, an easy to rebuild carb. The auto tranny is a Chrysler Torqflight 727, divorced from the robust gear on gear NP 205 transfer case. So many of these parts are easily sourced. But the real hang up for me was the front disc brake rotors. To the best of my knowledge, no other manufacturer used those rotors, and they had passed $800 each when I checked about 10 years ago. The rotors and the internal splined hubs were one piece, a huge flaw IMO. Maybe someone has come up with a machining process that cuts the rotor from the hub and allows a separated rotor to be installed. My 75 truck had the factory bucket seats and wide center counsel. I used many IH PUs in my snowplowing business, and thus they all rusted to death. They were good trucks, and better that the competitors of their day.

Nice find, I must ask, how you in touch with the seller? Craigslist or just word of mouth? I am leaving ebay out of the equation since you only paid $500
