Coolant in JD's

You might call me a little bias as a Deere Dealer employee, but I think Deere's Cool-Gard is about the best out there for pretty much anything. If you get the premix, it already has the correct 50-50 mix and a coolant conditioner in it. While the conditioner doesnt make a lot of difference in older engines, it cant hurt. The best thing ab out the water that is in the premix is not just a distilled, its a deionized water. Its about as pure of water as you can get. This really helps with any sort of corrosion and build up in the cooling system. Its a little higher than the coolant that you get at NAPA or TSC, but when it comes to oil and other machinery fluids, you for sure do get what you pay for.

So in other words it's not like the Dex-Cool GM was putting in their vehicles in the early 2000's with straight up tap water full of minerals?!?! Been there, done that. I have to change the coolant in my MT before winter because I don't know what's in there now, just may use this as I was also wondering what may be best lately.

I just use Prestone, distilled water and the JD Coolant Additive to prevent cavitation. Nothing fancy and easily available.
