Picked up a 1941 Allis chambers b it slowly get coolent in the oil, what the most command problem, and the first place to look.
Thanks Michael

2 most common cause of that is the head gasket or the sleeve seals. It is a wet sleeve engine by the way. Easy way to figure out if it is a sleeve seal is to pull the oil pan off and then lay a piece of card board under it and see if you get drips on the card board then look up inside and see which sleeve it may be coming from

Another common one is the core (some people call them freeze) plugs in the top of the head under the valve train. Rust pinholes form in them.

As they said sleeve seals, head gasket or core plugs in the head. As Old said personally I like to find the issue and fix it rather than guess and it is a very easy process. First thing is to put it in the shop and let it set a day if it is a slow leak, of its a large one,you don't need to let it sit. Then pull the valve cover and look at the 3 core plugs, if you don't see the leaks then remove the pan and look around the sleeves. Head gasket leaks will appear in the oil drains from the head.

I found a core plug leaking in my Oliver when I took the valve cover off. A little sludge everywhere except the middle plug, it was clean. Brass plugs so not rusted. I replaced all seven to be sure
