Coon Dog Cemetery

Pete Black, I was thru your home town yesterday, we visited the coon dog cemetery near there. I had heard of it but never was there. I was surprised at where it was located and the amount of people and where they were from that had visited there, first time I had seen old timey out houses in a while.

Is this the famous coon dog cemetary in Northwest Alabama that you're speaking of?

Yes, it's in Colbert county in Northwest Al.

well you had to want to go there to get there. how did you find it and was it what you expected. its been 25+ years since i have been there. used to go there ever fall and cook out about dark, then the forest rangers started patrolling the area and ran us off.

Went through that area last spring and if I remember correctly we were on route 72 when we saw a sign for it. I asked my wife if she saw that sign and I think her reply was "Are you kidding me.?" We also saw an area near there that a tornado had gone through. Don't know how long ago that happened but saw many hundred year hardwood trees torn out by their roots.

We were on the way to Muscle Shoals to look at Polaris Rangers, had heard about the cemetery a few years ago, had a friend bury a dog there several years ago, just decieded we would go by, we came in from the back side if 72, didn't think we would ever get there. BTW Tupelo, Ms. is cheaper than M. Shoals, bought there today.

Since it is for Coon Hounds, my dog should qualify. We had a DNA test done, and found she is mostly Coon Hound. Yea I know I should have given the money to the poor, instead of a worthless test. Stan
