Copper core plug wires and 12v coil

My '51 8N with 12v conversion has resistor car style plug wires and is running a 6v coil with an inline resistor. It runs and starts very well. I have intentions of buying copper core plug wires and removing the resistor and going with the NAPA 12v coil when the needs arises.

My question is will I notice any difference in performance if I do the
upgrade now or should I just wait until I need them?
If it ain't broke, don't fix it?

Copper plug wires are always better on an old Ford tractor or any other tractor for that matter.

Henry would roll over in his grave to see composition wires on his engines.

I have a 1951 Ford V8 that still has all the original plug and coil wires and it still runs great! Copper of course.

If the wires are good, there is no reason to switch. You pretty much answered the question. "It runs good". If you have a radio, especially AM, you will regret going to copper core.
I have had the same supression wires on my CA Allis for 15 years now...

if the ignition is up to snuff, you won't see a change right now.

it's when it gets wear and tear and bad connections that you will notice a change..

I run what ever I can scrounge up on my own chit and never had a problem,,, If I were paying I would use "LOW-RESISTANCE" SPIRAL WIRES are copper core but it would depend on the type of ignition used... I changed out the plugs to resistor and SPIRAL WIRES on a 37 ford V8 a few weeks ago that was run'n EI,,, the plugs and wires were interfering with the UPGRADED ignition... It is a challenge to make up a set of spiral wires right... copper core are a cake walk if EZ is what you want

Like manual brakes their is better chit out their if you are not skeered to try it,,, if skeered stay on the porch!!! 99% of the folks you ask could not tell the difference of good spark from bad ,,, plug wires either far as that goes....

That is under a totally different subject.

I'll tell you one thing that mechanical brakes taught me that has stuck with me all my life.

Don't follow too close!!!!!

Ford went hydraulic in 1939. Henry 2 wasnt there yet.Hydraulics had a lot of problems in the 30s.Chevy made the change in 1935 or 36.
