Cordless chainsaws

Milwaukee M18 cordless chainsaw...anybody got anything bad to say about them?

Leaning towards the Milwaukee 'cause I've been slowly replacing my Craftsman stuff with Milwaukee so I've got some chargers and batteries.

Is there anything better/cheaper that would justify another battery type?

Was in a small engine shop a year ago that sells Echo. While ordering snow blower parts, I was looking at the Echo battery chainsaw as he is also an Echo Dealer. A selling feature for me, would have been the fact that it had a 5 year warranty on everything including the battery. When I got home, for the heck of it I searched battery chainsaws. The Echo was a top rated battery chainsaw, at least at that time. $299.95 was listed price. Again, I don't have one, probably won't have one, but it seemed impressive to me, especially with that battery warranty as I would think that is probably the first thing to fail.

Is the guy talking about chainsaws or doing an infomercial for video cameras?

I will stick with my 56 volt Echo. Cuts great, good run time, uses the same bar and chain as their smaller 16-18" gas saws. I have one that I carry on whatever trail rig I happen to be taking out that day and it is good not having to carry a jug of gas and oil. Or be in a tree and have to be jerking on a saw or have to keep one running the intire time.

My son purchased A Milwaukee about 3 months ago, he's very happy with run time & quality of saw. Of course he checked out all the other battery saws & decided on Milwaukee due battery & pro reports. We just used it for cutting out some trails that had some 16-18" blow down & it was a pleasure to use, lots of power finished job with about 50% battery left. cut big & small over 2.5 miles. I would recommend Milwaukee battery powered chain saw from what I've seen in actual use.

I bought a bare Milwaukee sawzall, and an adapter so I can use 5 amp Dewalt battery.
Also buy 6 amp Dewalt after market battery cheaper than a 5 amp Dewalt.
My plan is to replace my 20 year old Dewalt tools when they die with Milwaukee , no battery or charger, just bare tools. George

Stihl is about $100 cheaper. Milwaukee has a great reputation with that saw.

I bought a Dewalt, same reason as you wanting a Milwaukee, already had several batteries and chargers. No complaints does what it is suppose to do. Probably can't go too wrong with any of the name brands.

I bought a Milwaukee chainsaw with two batteries on a special deal because I have lots of other Milwaukee tools and batteries.
It does exactly what I expect it to do and I don t have to worry about the gas saw not starting. Absolutely awesome for the occasional quick cut up situation.
On a side note a bunch of my friends have bought the electric weed trimmer for their wife or girlfriends because they can t start the gas one and they love it.

I been using the Oregon brand stuff really like the chainsaw since it comes with self sharp chain installed it done everything I asked of it, sold several of the units when I had shop going, never had anyone complain, only thing is when you buy by two items that way you get two batteries and it will be cheaper than a battery, most every one took blower/chainsaw or chainsaw and trimmer, getting less choices since a lot are being bought out core just got bought out

The Stihl saw is very small compared to the others. Most of their saws are limited to 10-12" bars IIRC. Biggest bar for their biggest saw is only 14". The Milwaukee and Echo come with a 16" out of the box.

The Milwaukee is a good choice if you want to have a battery system that works across multiple tools.
