corn head grease

Is John Deere Corn Head grease suitable for use in applications other than slow moving gears?I have ended up with more tubes than I will probably ever use.How about the standard zerk grease points on my 9n?I know its used on the steering gears of an 8n.

I just used some in my steering box and would think it'd be okay in things like tierod ends, spindles, and the like, but not sure it's as good as other types. Can you take the xtras back for a refund/exchange?

Thanks Dell.I guess its mostly a single purpose grease. Not worth putting it where it's not meant to be just to save the cost of a few tubes of the stuff.

I just got done with filing my steering box with it. $3.18 a tube at my John Deere dearer. not that much.
Bet it would work good in the hitch leveling box on the three point.

Dell, why not in chassis?

David:

Any grease is better than no grease.

Given this premise, JD cornhead grease is a compromise when used in steering boxes but it is much less likely to leak out than is 90W. It is also a compromise in other greased areas of your N because it is more likely to run out than is chassis lube.
