BEANS RAN AT 13% WE HAD EARLY FROST AND SCWEWDUP 105 DAY CORN THAT WE STARTED WITH
HOW DRY NEED TO BE TO PICK AND CRIB ROUGH GUID LINE?

My corn was 26% when I started 4 weeks ago and down to 18 when i finished on Monday.

Neighbors corn that I ran yesterday was 23%.

We use to start cribbing corn at 21% moisture.

Never had any spoil.

It depends on your type of crib and the weather.

The narrower the crib the better it will keep.

Big round crib with a lot of corn for the air to blow through, 24%.

Wooden crib, 6-7 feet accross with good airflow - 28% will work.

Works better in cold climate (here in MN, might not work so well in a warm climate.

So, depends on where you are & what type of crib you have. Be _real_ careful of the place your fines - the loose kernals - drop into, that spot will want to heat & mold. Get that spot fed, moved or frozen in a couple weeks - less if it is warm weather.

I've done 30-32% in a 7 foot wooden crib, but it is desperation & takes a lot of watching, cold weather, & get it moved by Feb/March before it warms up. You will find some mold at those moisture levels.....

Never picked one ear of corn but I am a sponge for information from all subjects related to farming. Sooooo, a novice question I'm sure, but will the moisture of corn go up and down depending on the humidity? Or will it only stay where it is or get dryer?
Thanks and good luck to all who are waiting on Mother Nature.
