Corn Planter Numbers?

Found a CASE 2 row planter complete and in working condition. Has seed and fertilizer boxes. How can I determine if it's a No.45 or some other number planter, as there is no documentation or manuals that go with it.?

Thanks, Mike

Mike,
Hope this will help you a bit.

That helps some Loren, could you show me the difference between the 45,46 series and the 232 series Jim talked about in a recent posting. Also found a 2 row EH planter with a single marker, planter boxes only, that works also. Hope to buy both if price is right.

Thanks, Mike

I don't have any practical knowledge about the differences. All the info I have is in my Case product binder from the 50s. Just to stir the pot a bit more, there was also a model 48 - 48E planter that looked like the 45 and 46.

Good God now I'm really confused, I'll just buy them, and figure out what is what later, did I mention I can also buy a horsedrawn planter with seed boxes only! What's a man to do - hide'em form the wife that's for sure. By the way Loren, since we're talking, my order was for 10 jars of Maple Cream. Will send E-mail when I get home.

The 46 planter is with out check wire and the 45 is a check wire planter. I think thatthe242 has the small packer wheels.

That is some of the info I'm looking for when I go look at these planters. The one looks like a No.46 with fertilizer, but is trailer type. the other is Eagle Hitch, but has only 1 marker that you swing back and forth when changing direction. The horsedrawn has markers on the back behind the seat, but am not sure how you work them yet.

Thanks, Mike
