Corn silage, 2013

Here are some picture of my Fox Super D, and the 560"s, during corn harvest this year.

I took the side view of the Fox and an 18 ft box. Alot of weight there for that little chopper.

I was lucky enough to have it rain slightly, making my hilly, clay field real tractable. The Fox can handle a full wagon, up a hill, on a dry day. Was only able to do 3/4 loads today. Thank god i have 4WD.... Rather wiggly on the down side, or side of, hills, with a full wagon.

I actually had one of the silo unloader cables snap on me right as I was raising the unloader...50 feet up. It became a very large pendulum. I was really lucky that it was able to be lowered, and the cables replaced, and not suffer any damage.

And I included a picture of our local airport. I fly out of there all the time. It was just re-modeled.

Regards!

I bet those big boxes push that chopper around in the hills. Our 16' want to push our 970 around some. My friend has the same tractor loader combo you have as well, altho his is substantially more "used". LOL

Those are some very nice looking 560s you have there. I am surprised your corn is ready for chopping. Probably be two to three weeks before we can chop the corn on my farm and I am only about 15 miles from you. The neighbor who buys my corn doesn't like to put it in until it is quite dry or his silo runs. Al

I got mine in relatively early, all things considered.

I usually like it about 65-70% moisture. It seems to pack and ferment more evenly in my old, leaky silo, if is is a bit wetter. I had real dry corn one year and I had a fair bit of spoilage by the silo doors. Now I add water at the blower if it is not at least 65% moisture.

Theres nothing like seeing some good looking hard working Real Red IH tractors doing the work, great fall pictures just be careful out there those choppers and blowers have no memory.
