Cows, cords, and chewing

Short answer, They are cows! Long answer, dont have time or space right now to give you a proper answer.

On a lighter note:
One day my brother was quite put out by his cows behavior. I heard him violently cussing at the cows. But it wasn't until I heard him include "Square Nose SOB" in the cussing chain that got my attention. I said "square nose?" He said yeah, just look at them. First time I noticed they really do have square noses.

They ate the tail lights off my IH dump trunk one time.

Best one was, a guy we used to rent from had a nice little sugar shack that he cooked down his maple syrup in. He had a 2" hole in one wall that he ran a pipe through into a big tank of sap outside. Of course he took this all down when it wasn't sugar season and put it all away, leaving just that 2" hole in the wall.

Well apparently an ole cow was feeling particularly ornery one fine spring day when the grass was nice and lush. She managed to position herself just perfectly while scratching her bottom on that shack and squirted straight through that little hole, all across the floor, and onto the opposite wall.

The landowner was not particularly pleased about that. :3

I made a u out of 1.5 inch pvc and 2 90°elbows. It goes from the ground, up over about the third rail and down to almost the bottom of the tank. Cord goes through it. A bolt through drilled holes on the upright flat strap. I have horses and one of them chews everything. Well, had. He passed last year. But still use it. Need to clean the tank and I just loosen the nuts and swing it out of the way. I drilled a hole in the pvc and stuff the plug up in the pipe. A zip tie keeps it in and out of the weather. Guess you could us galvanized 1.5 or 2 inch and do the same. Put the cord through before gluing or screwing the pipe together, it easier.

Why do cattle chew the power cords on waterer de-icers? Workaround suggestions ?
Yeah when it comes to eating most anything they can give goats a run for the money. My Dad had among our cattle herd a Jersey that would eat the coffee can that he used to feed grain if he didn't put it away properly! Once after a windstorm had blown a couple asphalt shingles off the barn he went out to do the chores and found her happily devouring one of them. Now that I think about it she was our main milk cow too:unsure:...

Most cords are plastic which is made if soy beans or sometimes corn. It's tasty for them. They will dig all through a construction debris pile to get to the pink insulation

Cows lick the grease and oil off everything. That's why I spray paint my plows, etc when unused. BTW, don't leave a bad battery when they can get to it, my friend did, it froze, broke the the case and cows licked up the acid. He had 3 dead heifers later.

Yep, from what I understand plastic has a small amount of some sort of a salt in its production. I have had squirrels chew up my plastic wire insulation on my trailer and patio chairs.

Yes! Had that happen too. They are knuckleheads.
Sheeps ain't no better. Once I had the walking underwear out in the pasture and sowed haygrazer in their pen. I let it get lush and succulent about a foot and a half to two feet tall and let them back into their pen. The first thing they did was stick their heads through the woven wire fence to eat the weeds on the other side. In doing so, they got their wool wound up around the wires and I spent hours unwinding sheeps from the fence.

 Torqued my nut!
