Crank journal goo

Hi, everyone. I'm rebuilding a Mannheim 510 and I bought a new crank. On a sheet that came with the crank, it said to make sure and remove the coating that is on the journals. Can someone tell me what to use to get that waxy stuff off. Varsol (solvent) doesn't really seem to work very good....any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

lacquer thinner or brake clean, but it will rust if your do not coat it with oil.

Brake cleaner.

I have my machine shop run it through the cleaning tank. That gets the stuff off the whole crank not just the journals.

Is that the acid tank?
