Crankshaft welding

I’m just wondering if anyone who has ever built up a crankshaft with an mig or stick welder would care to share the type of filler metal used for the process.

I'm going to our local machine shop tomorrow. I'll look what wire they are using. They grind cranks almost every day. And weld them back with a mig welder in a fixture. Then grind them back to std. Their bread and butter is oil field water pumps. Big 3 cyl ones. And Fairbanks 208 cu. In. Single cyl motors. I can't get them to stroke a crank for me
They are afraid they can't index it perfect.
