what is the difference between an oc 3 and an hg crawler ?

Not much. The later Cletrac and into Oliver line had the larger engine.

Engine for one was bigger on oc3 Other than that, what i would call minor stuff.

Early HG has a cast spoke front wheel, OC3 had one that was more solid looking, just had holes in it, but then so did the late HG. Cast spoke would be HG for sure if original.

Another difference that I came across, but still overlaps, the HG used a Hercules IXA3 engine until 1950, then they went to an IXB3 for one year. The OC3 came out in 51 and used the IXB3 all through production. So a 1950 HG would be virtually identical to an OC3.
