Creeper Gears

I'm looking for a tractor in the 75 hp range with creeper gears. Something in the $5 to $10,000 range. Ideal would be a MF 285 (we have all Masseys), but they are hard to find.

What other brands and models could I look at?

I have 2 Long 910s and they have 16 forward and 8 reverses with some extremely slow gears.They are the same tractor as the Zetor 8011.pretty decent tractors good on fuel and I paid less than $5000 for the pair and 1 has a cab.the other had practically new tires and a new clutch.
They have LPTO and 540 and 1000 PTO

I have '88 or so White 2-75 w/ MFWD - made by Iseki and has an Isuzu engine

also has a 16 speed forward tranny with some very slow gears

BUT - as a 4wd in that size range - up here they are snow scooping acreage tractors - never find one for less than 10 grand maybe 15

I'd like to be able to go as low as 0.4 mph (4/10 mph) at 1500 or revs. I use it to pull my sweet potato digger, in wet heavy soil I need to go real slow and still be able to drive the 30 gph hydraulic pump on the digger. 1000 pto is nice too.

Would the White and the Long go that slow?

How about an old IH Hydro 100? That slush pump...I mean hydrostatic drive might be the ticket.

Yes, I think that I am going to look at a Hydro 186 tomorrow. Will it hold a speed at low speeds? The only hydrostatic I've ever driven is my lawn mower.

A Hydro 100 should be good for what you are needing. Mine has 1000 & 540 PTO. Seems to me a hydrosatic would be better then creeper gears.

May not be easy to find one. I bought one used many years ago and have never had a major problem.

I never knew anybody that had an International hydro that ran longer than it took to get it home the trans was a major problem just the worst thing they made since the 60series tractors with ball bearing rear ends.

Look at a Ford 7610 orchard or highway model. I got a 91 with 3300 hrs on it in 2001 for $7500.

I'll try to find out the speed in the lowest gear.You could use the 1000 RPM shaft and run it 1/2 throttle but you'd have to be very careful.
The gearing is by one stick with a high/low/reverse another stick with 4 gears and a high/low on the steering column that can be shifted on the go.

The Hydro transmisions gave right much trouble and are very expensive to repair

I really don't know that much about them. Just that when you mentioned digging sweet potatoes with it,I thought I remembered seeing hydros pulling harvesters on This Week In Louisiana Agriculture.

A hydro will beat any creeper for slow variable speeds at a constant engine RPM. My dad had an 826 hydro and it was a great tractor except for tillage. Harvesting and transplanting - can't have a better tractor. Plow - not so good.

Tillage operations tear up the trans.

Yes they do hold a constant slow speed from almost not moving through road speed.
