We got the yield reports back from the combine for this years beans, the Funk beans averaged in upper 50s, the Pioneer in the upper 40s.

How did your bean results go?

56 here in my part of Northwest Iowa and they were Pioneer. Talked to a crew harvesting test plots in my area and they said the plots were doing mid-fifties with a couple of odd balls doing 70.

My beans averaged the best I have ever raised. That was 71 BPA an that was a Stine and Champion seed, both Iowa based seed companies. This was in 15 inch rows and a final stand of around 180K.

Corn average was down my ground. As near as I can tell with the silage and all it was right around 180 BPA. That was Champion and DeKalb seed. Final stand of 36K.

We did 30" rows, will have to look up the population targets.

All was planted with 12 row 7200 no till.

Mine went 58 bpa, best I ever raised. Planted may 1, we had great summer with no real drought stress. Stine seed, group 2.7, population about 150,000, drilled with a John Deere wood box, wood wheel grain drill built in 1921.

I quit growing beans because the whitetail population kept the average around 22 bpa no matter how good the soil and weather was. Can't kill enough of the stupid things . . .
