Cross Crank Tractors

My dad was telling me that there was another tractor (other than John Deere) that had a cross crank / horizontal piston set up. He couldn't remember the name. Anyone here know of one? I'd like to read up on em.

There were lots of them back in the day. JD was the only one that lasted past the 20s. Hart Parr tractors come to mind and most of the first generation big gas tractors had horizontal engines.

There are too many to list and I know I?d miss a pile. Because
the origins of tractor development were based on gas engines
mounted on frames that was a basic design. Look up IHC
Friction Drive and you can understand why most early
manufacturers configured that way.

Hi There was one called a Chamberlain, very
Skookum machine. An outfit called GIBBS have a
collection. Very interesting web site. Ed Will Oliver
