i was wondering if i could put a 12hp kohler in my 72 with out modifeing my frame.

I have a 12-hp Kohler in a CC 70. It works good but really makes the steering hard due to the extra weight. For point adjustment, you will have to loosen the motor mounting bolts and raise the engine a few inches. Other than that, works great. JB9959

The steering is the same in the 7 hp and the 12 hp. If you find your 72 hard to steer you may have other problems.

A Kohler K301 will fit with no issue as long as you a model with the belt driven starter generator. You best bet would be to find one from another narrow frame tractor like a 124.
