Cub Cadet tire question

I've got a new Cub Cadet with a 12" turning radius, the problem is when you turn that tight the front tires cut up the yard. Can I put a different front tires on to stop this? Thanks mike

To the best of my knowledge the answer is no. You can't go any larger or the machine won't set level. You certainly don't want to go smaller as that will make it even worse. More width isn't the answer since the tires don't really stay flat and level on turning. The only option I could offer short of just not turning that sharp is to lower the air pressue in the front tires, and then turn at a slower speed. BUT, you risk running the tire off the rim if your not careful, then your fighting trying to get the tubeless tire to take air after you flattened it.
Although those tight turn Cubs are a really cool feature, that is one of the main complaints...tearing up the yard. A zero turn mower may have been a better option in your case, but of course your talking more $$$.

A smooth tire(no tread at all) might be your only option to eliminate scuffing.

The old Toro triplex riding greensmowers ran 4-6 PSI in the tires, on greens you used a smooth tire. Didn't have problems with the beads breaking but when you ran over A upside down tee marker the resulting hole would let out what litte air you had in them. Don't ask me how I know this

I got this 1996 mower last year. It was only used until 1998, so it it is in near new condition.

It had 6.50 x 6 tires on the front that had squared off edges on them. They dug in on a sharp turn and near jammed the steering linkage, making the return steering very stiff and also gouged the lawn.

I changed the cheap front 5/8" spindles with the plastic bushings, over to 3/4" spimdles from a 1970 Sears 10XL and added full length steel tube king pin bushings and a pair of old 10/36 craftsman rims. Added ball bearings to the rims also.

The rounded knobby mini bike tires made all the difference in turning, Plenty of grip and no sharp edge to dig into the lawn on turns. Feels like power steering.

Also found a good leaf season use for all those dog cages that you see on Craigs List.

Is the tire on it now a flat profile tire or is it rounded in the center. raised center style will not do the dig when turn issue unless it is real muddy and soft
