cub clutch issues

I have a '68 cub cadet 124. The other day the throw out bearing went. I have never worked on this before. How do I pull the driveshaft? Any other tips I should know about?

I have a 124 also, done this many times. Bend the slot where the creeper drive lever would go so you can drive out the roll pins. remove the deck and the mule drive. Unbolt the throwout lever from the frame. Drive out the roll pins on the collar at the transaxle, slide the collar onto the drive shaft. the whole deal should slide back, drop down, then comes out the front. Its extremely important to use a new tickler spring, and I'd surely replace the clutch disc, and the drive plate if the pins are bent. use new roll pins everywhere to re-assemble, they are not regular pins, get them from the cub cadet dealer. if the U bracket the throwout lever pivots on, or the lever itself is messed up, or the holes are wallowed out, replace them, unless you want to do this again in 6 months. I should mention some feel its easier to pull the engine to do this.

this guy is a genius. he explains how to disassemble your driveshaft to replace the bearing. he also feels its easier to pull the engine, so what do I know? I've never done it that way.

I have used this method to work on Cub Cadets 1050, 72 and 100. It works gteat.

I also use a pneumatic nail driver and a long punch to remove and replace the drive pins. Wear safety goggles.
