Were do I begin. The old tractor has been sitting for years now due to rear mainseal leaking. I have put a new battery on it but it won"t do anything. Could it be a bad ignition switch? I was going to crank it to move it to change the seal. Now I have many questions about this tractor are there any safety switches on this tractor? I could not find the starter. I see what appears to be a generator. Could that be the starter as well as generator? It sits on top of the motor and has a belt running off the fan. Do I have to pull the motor to change the rear seal? It looks like I could pull the drive shaft and possibly remove the flywheel to change the rear seal. I turned on the gas and it started running out of carb. I guess I will have to rebuild it too. Thanks for any help.

Did you clean all the battery cable lugs until nice and shiny? If the battery cables are cracked I would replace them. Clean them at the starter too. It probably has a generator for charging the battery. I think that tractor has the C60 gas engine and would have an electric
starter with the bendix. You need to check for battery voltage at the switch and to the starter solenoid if it has one. Clean the area where your battery is grounded too. Rust or corrosion
is a good insulator. That tractor may be 6 volts
and may be positive grounded. You need to get a good service manual too. Hal

IH 154 LOWBOY IS 12 NEG. GROUND. Don't have to pull engine to change rear seal but it would be quicker. Will probably have to change the metal seal retainer the seal has a habit of coming loose and spinning in the reatiner. also check to make sure there isn't any oil coming from the engine oil pump on the end of the cam
