Cultipacker Qs

I've been looking for a cultipacker near me. Most I see are 8' wide. Will my 200 pull a single 8' gang? How heavy are they typically?

Thanks

They are easy to pull in all soil that is fit to condition. A 200 will not even know it is attached. They are great for loamy easily crushed clods. Not so good for sun baked grapefruit sized clay bricks. Look it over when it is suspended from one eng (at least) to assess the looseness of the wheels on the shaft. My opinion is that 1/4 inch play is OK, Jim

We pulled an about 8-foot tandem with an A or B. Used third gear and it was like it wasn't there. An 8-foot single is about 1,000 pounds. Tandem adds less than 200 pounds.

I would look for the 4 inch axle ones. they have a u bolt clamp they use to keep the wheels tight together. IF let to run loose they will break as they slop around especially in stony ground.

The hard clody ground like bricks is what they use them the most on here pulled behind field cultivators mulch finishers and disks. nobody much pulls them by themselves. they use them to firm up the soil and bust up the clods as well as push the stones down for a smooth field to cut beans on. then they roll beans to make it smooth on top after planting.

Mostly for food plots. Usually I broadcast seed then run the disc over it enough to cover the seed. This year I made my own seed mix and used seed too fine for that method.
