Current Tractor Hauling Rates

What is the going rate, per loaded mile, to haul antique tractors? These would be narrow front tractors, 6500 pounds each. Thanks!

I can tell you that $1.00 / loaded mile is too cheap. Thats not a break even rate. $1.50 / loaded mile will pay expenses if you are carefull.

I haven't had any tractors hauled, but recently had a field sprayer and a 9' transport disc hauled together on a roll back for $1.80 a loaded mile in central PA. But I also knew the guy so I'm sure he gave me a little break. Would think $2.00/mile would be closer to reality especially with the greater weight of the tractors.

I sold my john deere dozer to a guy in Texas (I'm in Maryland) The guy set up somebody to haul it down to him. I helped the tractor trailer driver load it up. He had 2 or 3 other things on the trailer plus my dozer. He was an owner operator and I asked him if there was any money in trucking...he said if he didn't get $3.00 a mile or better he wasn't making any money.

i just got a combine hauled home by a local trucking company for $350. seriosly it was on a return trip. they charge less on return trips. theu huled it 100 miles but i got the heads with my gooseneck. i don't remember the loaded mile of what they said befor i found they had a return load.

I haul OTR as my primary occupation, my own DOT Authority, full insurance, paid for truck, and stepdeck trailer. When I have to consider fuel at over $3 a gallon, empty miles to get the load, loaded miles, time and BS arranging the load, loading and unloading, time spent doing paperwork for all DOT and IRS compliance, taxes and license, having to hire someone to do occasional things around the farm because I can't be home, maintenance, repairs and depreciation on the truck and trailer, most meals on the road in restaraunts, it is really hard to haul for less than $2 per loaded mile and be able to pay myself for all this and keep ahead. The pay on LOADED miles has cover all this plus other odds and ends. Circumstances can happen where the rate might be negotiable for less. Just my .02 Wayne

If you don't care how long it takes, some haulers keep a list of hauls to fill out a load- they try like heck to fill the trailer at their regular rate, but if they can't, they fill out the load at reduced rate. I got a tractor hauled from Missouri to western Washington for $500 a while back- took 6 months, but as the guy said, he had $500 more than he would have otherwise.

It really depends on where the tractor is and where it is going also.
Lets use southern Fla as a example.....
There are very few flat bed or drop deck loads coming out of southern Fla as compaired to going in.
So if you wanted your tractor hauled into southern Fla you would pay a premium so the trucker could pay to dead head out empty.
But on the other hand if the tractor was being hauled out of souther Fla to a better area you could get it hauled cheep because the driver would rather haul cheep freight rather than none.
