Custom made bearing inserts?

Is there a manufacturer of custom bearing inserts? I'm just tossing this out there. Friend has a 4cyl aircraft engine. Crank is .020 under and mfr. Of .020 under bearings no longer exists. Crank is so costly that new bearing inserts would be worth it.

When I was considering fixing a Minneapolis-Moline Military Big MO 400 ( with military spec bearings in it. MM ag. engine bearings are different.) I 'googled' the bearing numbers. One hit back then (about 2005 or 2006) was a company somewhere in Southeast Asia that wanted me to agree to buy $50,000 worth of them if they made them for me.
I found a regular 206 ag. engine and put it in the tractor.

Another consideration for aircraft engines is would the bearings pass FAA regulations? I am thinking I read or saw some video where some questionable repair parts were being used in aircraft that did not meet FAA regulations.

I mean, when the air plane is up in the air, you can't just stop or 'pull over' if the engine gives trouble.

generally parts that go into a certified aircraft engine need to meet FAA PMA (parts mfgr. approval) if his engine is going in a experimental aircraft then he should be ok

If you have the old inserts there is someone who can redo them. That is what I am led to believe from reading the Case forum. I think it was Don L who said to save all old inserts for relining. He might have been talking about the SC model.

There is a company in California called Egge Machine that can reline bearings to your specs. I have no connection to this company but when I worked in an automotive machine shop we used them a time or two to get obsolete parts and used bearings that they relined.
