Cylinder Questions

I’m fixing up an old John Deere chisel, and found these old hydraulic hoses have an O-ring fitting instead of a regular pipe thread.

Is that John Deere specific? Is it obsolete?

I think I knew all that years ago, but have forgotten now (and am getting back into farming now). Lol 🙂

Also, is that cylinder shaft beyond hope? Or what is the best way to polish/clean it up it before I start using it?

I have plenty of other newer cylinders to swap if I need, but with just as soon leave it original if I can.

Thanks for any advice,
Howard

Those are SAE O-ring boss fittings, aka ORB.

Polish the rod with fine emery cloth then crocus cloth but from the looks of the rod, it is going to rear the seals up shortly even after polishing.
