Has anybody tried to go direct injection so you could get the fuel broken down better?Couldn't you take a gas head and put the nozzles in the spark plug hole?I must have too much time on my hands.

Had a customer few years back wanting to do a gas head conversion, were about to do it, then the rules opened up and in went a 301 instead!

Hello AlanE,
What are you asking? Make a gas engine diesel by injecting fuel into the spark plug hole..expand!.

I think he's talking about taking a diesel engine, and using the gas head, but installing injectors inplace of the plugs.. And trying to injected fuel on the top of the pistons.. instead of across the intake valve into the power cell. I always thought about taking an injector for direct injection engine, and having a different tip/nozzle make for it, so it would spray more down on the top of the piston.. but it really would not be very efficient, with have the bowl to inject to...
You might be better off cutting/welding new holes in a different location.. I don't know if the angle is enough off on the gas engines..
I think changing the injector location is going to be only way you are going to make good HP out of that engine..
Good Luck.. (We sold ours because we were never happy with the HP.)

That's what I was thinking about.I just don't know if it's going work. You would need cup pistons instead of the flat that's in a diesel 262.
