D 17 Question

Is a D 17 positive or negative ground?

I changed mine to negative ground by changing the wire on the Coil and the battery

There were positive ground from the factory with a GENERATOR on them. If it has been converted to an alternator, I would expect it is now a positive ground.

YES, you are correct and I didn't re-read what I wrote. All alternators are NEGATIVE ground.

Most, not All, are negative ground. Positive ground alternators are available from several sources including Brillman, Steiner, and eBay. In general, I would say positive ground alternators will likely cost more than commonly used negative ground ones. one can get 6 volt alternators as well.
