You didn't mention the manufacturer, pertronix would be a good guess, and NO that doesn't work.

The supply and ground systems in electronic ignition are driving transistors that are triggered by a tiny signal from a magnetic device in the distributor. Transistors are not usable with opposite polarity. Jim
