D17 loader question

Hi guys, I just bought a loader for my "61 D17 and was woundering if I can run my input line for the control valves from the one remote outlet that is under the seat and to the left, and then run the output line back to the output of a single control valve I allready have on the tractor? Thanks in advance.

I do not know if you can hook it up the way your asking but I do know you will not like the way it works off the tractor hyds. system. The D-17 does not have live hyds so that makes them a pain. BTDT and it is best if you can get a pump that is run off the front of the engine. Now as for will the on board system work yes but not sure how you tap into them since the one I had had a valve mounted on it that tapped into the on board system

Hooking it up to the remote outlet by the seat will give you some hydraulic pressure, but not 100%. You'll need to add a selector valve to isolate the rear lift arms from the remote outlet. Otherwise you'll be splitting hyraulic effort between the rear lift arms and the loader - and that results in really poor loader lifting capabilities. Gresen makes a nice push/pull selector valve that is pressure rated and easy to install.

I forgot to mention that there is a selector valve already on the tractor. If I use the remote outlet will the loader work slow or should I get a PTO driven pump, my friend has one for sale, what size of tank will I need with this set up.

The D-17 has the BIG STICK on the right, which gives you live hyraulics when it is in neutral.
Depending which series D-17 you have, the hydraulic pressure will be different. Either high presure low out put, or low presure, high out put.

Get two manuals- the D17 Operator manual and the D-series I&T manual, CRS says it is AC-17. Between the two, you"ll see pix and text of various options and hookups regarding hydraulics, including use of the selector valve. Hyd power is live on the D17 1-2-3 Series via the hand clutch- it is not independent like on the D17-4 Series. Is the loader all hyd and needs two valves to operate? Are its cylinders designed for high pressure (3200 psi)? If low pressure you would need a pressure relief valve in the system to use integral hydraulics. You could power those valves with the remote outlet on the tractor, and run the return back to sump, but then you need to operate the internal pump all the time to have power through the remote at all times. Simpler to install a front pump (crankshaft pulley is tapped to bolt the pump shaft to it)- then you would have independent hyd, plus retain the integral hyd capability. Books will also explain use of the transport valve which is part of your remote valve system. Transport valve does not limit pressure- it limits volume.

Yes I know about the way to have live hyds and PTO on them but you can not shift from forward to back wards with that lever and that is where you have the big pain in the back sides. BTDT and have used all sorts of heavy equipment and know which way is the best way to have it to get a real job done
