D17 power steering - governor driven pump

i would guees a 1/64 gasket would make it way to loose on the pre load on the cup and cone
I’ve done some more digging and found the parts diagram to match the single front wheel unit. The support bearings are preloaded with the center nut (red arrow) and shims below it.

Did end up going with rtv in place of the vellum gaskets as recommended by DrAllis. Inability to source gasket material at 0.005” helped make that call simple as well.

Finally wrapped up 97% assembly yesterday and refilled with oil and coolant. Delayed a bit with some vehicle repairs and parts acquisitions. Only items left are to mount front tire on the wheel and get it installed. One evening this week will see to that task in preparation for fencing work next weekend.

In other news, I repacked the front wheel bearings, installed a new thermostat, and new coolant hoses to help deter leaks from the well worn existing hoses.
