d17 rebuilt motor

newly rebuilt motor. pistons sleeves bearings and all new head parts. just got her running and its real nice. the motor does have a slight lope at idle though. throttle response is crisp with no sputter anywhere thru the rpm range. just wondering if they all have the "lope", or do i have carb or intake isssues like a possible leak.

Probably the old carburetor. I would try to check for a leak first. I spray some choke cleaner around the intake manifold and carburetor while at an idle and see if the engine starts to skip from pulling the cleaner in through a leak.

Some folks cam there car engines just to get that lope. They like the sound.

Put one of these on your Christmas list.
I put them on my B's and C's and the engines have never run smother.

Not enough timing will do it. It'll foul plugs under a load in that case.

I found the problem. The rockers were a bit tight and letting valves seat. it was running low compression. Adjusted valves and now it absolutly sounds like a new tractor. Wow
