Be glad to help and I can help you. Now, you have to tell me EXACTLY what you are trying to do ???? I'm going to assume it has something to do with tractor pulling but that's just a guess on my part. Your question " what can I put in a D-19 rear end housing or what can I do to make it stronger" is such a vague question no one can really help you with that little of information.

Using just the D-19 rear end without the torque housing ?? How heavy of a weight class ??? How large or what size of rear tire ?? With an 18.4 x 38 or 24.5 x 32 rear tire. 3rd gear at 6,000 RPM would be right at 22 - 24 MPH, which I would think that engine could handle. Road gear would be out of the question. Is there going to be an automatic transmission on the engine ahead of the D-19 rear end ?? What condition is the transmission and the differential/final drives in?? Did it jump out of third gear?? Have you removed the shift cover and rear end lid to inspect things ?? I built something similar nearly 50 yrs ago with a 460 Ford engine and a 4-speed Ford transmission ahead of a 190XT rear end. Ran the rear end in road gear and had 4 speeds to choose from with the Ford 4-speed ahead of the A-C rear end.

Gonna run 18.4x38 with either a turbo 350 or a power glide in front. It’ll be 5500lb weight class.

Turbo 350 or 400 would be better than a 2-speed Power Glide. Maybe it could run road gear with an automatic ahead of it. but the wheel speed doubles from 22-24 to 44-48 MPH at 6,000 RPM when in high gear in the automatic. The rear end typically was used at 7500 lbs in the field. I wouldn't worry about anything not holding up if things are in good condition. The differential pin could be "needled" but not just yet. The ring gear could have a brass rub block installed behind it, but these are things heavier diesel tractors need to do. Be sure to use 821XL or HyTran oil in the tranny and overfill it at least two inches to flood the differential with oil. There you go. Post pictures when you get done.

It's your project and your money. Use whichever auto trans you want. My money and my project it would never be a Power Glide.
