d4 won't start

Will the governor hold it in place or should I be able to move back and forth gently. I have the side cover off and two of the pistons in the pump go up ans down but the other two don't hardly move. good fuel pressure. i will try moving the throttle or fuel lever when I get back to the ranch in a week or two. Thanks.

The two that DON'T move are the two that's KEEPING the rack from moving freely, get those two moving and engine should run again. on ANY make inline pump all plungers MUST move or that will keep the rack from moving. I like to loosen ALL injector line nuts at the injectors to make sure the engine will not start and run away while dealing with the injection pump. When you can see the flow to the injectors start/stop with the controls while cranking engine then it's safe to tighten the lines and start engine. Only takes ONE stuck plunger to keep the rack from moving as it should, and cause a possible engine over speed as the other plungers still deliver fuel to engine.

Thank you Dieseltech. will try to spray more panther p on it and try to get them to break loose. I keep looking for the easy way out but life just like to make me work for it.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:. Now that I am retired I have more time on my hands,,NOT.

My D2 sticks the rack occasionally. Always closed.. Thank goodness. I have loosened it with penetrating lube. I have found that its important on my machine that I treat my fuel with an enzyme treatment. When i do it can sit for quite a while with no problems. If I don't it will stick. Just my 2ct of experience.

PB blaster has worked for us back in the day. Just take the top off, loosen the lines, fill it with PB blaster and spin the engine every now and then. Don't expect instant success.
