David Bradley hay rake transport

Question for you all.
I use an old David Bradley side delivery rake, which I am very happy with the performance of..especially for a 60 year old machine! That said, does anyone have any tricks while towing the rake to the field to limit the side to side swaying that happens on the road with the rake. I knew this was an issue going in...so I'm not suprised by it...I just wonder if anyone has any tips. Its a bummer not being able to go more than 4 or 5mph going down the road to the fields...

We use an old David Bradley Rake too, works great. Most have a set screw on both back wheel housings where you can tighten up with a wrench to prevent the wheels from swaying while in transport. Make sure you loosten the screws while using the rake in the field. Hope this helps.

That rake was advertised to be able to be pulled at 50, yes 50 MPH on the road. There is a rubber pad brake in the rear caster wheels that will be wore out that is adjusted with a set screw. 25 year since we got rid of ours but at that time I made a new brake pad out of a piece of car tire, you have to drop the axle down to get inside the housing to see it.

Remove one of the rear wheels and it won't wobble on you. Works for me. I just lay the removed wheel in the reel basket. Only take a few seconds to remove a wheel.

Thanks for the ideas everyone..if either of these work for me it will be nice to rid myself of one of the nagging irritations of moving these things around!

Removing one wheel will work. I have a 1947 model. The date is on the serial plate. About as good of a rakes as was built in the old days and I owned or used several different brands over the years.

We had a rake like the David Bradley but it was labeled "Coop-Black Hawk". I would like to know who the manufacturer off these was.
