David brown 885 3pt hydraulics

Guys I’m having an issue with the 3 pt hydraulics not going down. I’ve tried switching the controls on alll three the depth, height and tcu. But it will not drop The lift arms. I’ve been reading my manual but I’ve not came up with possible causes of this problem. I’m hoping you all can. Point me in the right direction.

So your 3 point arms are "locked" in the uppermost position, right? This is page 28 from the 885 owner's manual. Have you tried moving the "lift latch" as per the instructions given? You may have to apply some upward pressure on the 3 point arms while you have a buddy move the lift latch. If there is a load on the 3 point arms, stand out of the way! Because the arms may drop suddenly. Post back with results.

That’s exactly what it was. But now the 3 pt won’t lift. It worked only on the height selection before this but me trying to figure out what was going on i made it worse. now It won’t lift I can’t get fluid to flow out of the blead port in front of the ram cylinder. I don’t have a hydraulic pressure guage to check the pressure from the two top ports. I took the rear selectamatic cover off and the tractor control valve has fluid spraying out of the side. Going off of the manual im guessing the unit needs rebuilt? Or am I completely wrong I wish I could upload videos

What adjustments did you make while you were trying to figure out what was going on? Have you changed the hydraulic filter and put in fresh hydraulic oil? Youtube has ample videos covering David Brown hydraulic woes.

well it’s in the past I would explain it but it will take a page worth of writing.. but i figured out the issue. The spool valve on the control valve the one with the double nuts on top for adjustment and the lever on the bottom that pushes it open. Was stuck open I had to tap it with a mallet to seat it after I removed the valve from the tractor. And pushing it back open it doesn’t slide up and down very freely. Is there a shop that can rebuild the control valve?

But as for replacing the filter last year I changed the fluid and I cleaned the filter by blowing it out. I couldn’t find the exact replacement. I ordered one but it was smaller. Do you know of the correct filter for it? I’m going to change the fluid again I’d like to change the filter
