David Brown 990 and 950

I think the sheet metal, I got to look for pics, . The 990 has little more power and an inch bigger clutch, the rear diff is a little
beefier. Both Great tractors,, excellent fuel economy,, i have 995, 4 cylinder,, and 1190.Case ( rebadged 885 DB ) 3 cylinder.. w / loader . They
use same amt. fuel for similar jobs, I asked an old DB guy, he said the injection pumps are from different manufacturers,,

Our 950 DB was the first diesel tractor on our farm, and it soon became the favourite for ploughing and running square baler. Gas tractors cost near twice the amount to operate.

The 900(1956 to 1958) to 950(1958 to 1960) to 990(1961 to 1980) is just a series of updates on the same basic machine, you can include the 1290 and 1294 as well.

The 1961 and 62 990s are fairly similar to a 950 with an upgraded engine(4/40 versus a 4/47). 1962 the 990 got a different front axle that DB kept until the end of production on the 94 series. Paint changed color in 1966 because of a planned import deal with Bolens. Hydraulic system changed from implematic to selectamatic in the mid to late 1960s depending on where in the world you lived, also made 12 gears an option rather than 6. 990 engine changed again in the early 1970s from a 4/47 to a 4/49. Color changed again when Tenneco bought them. The DPA injector pump was about the only constant on the series. Even the bolt thread form changed along the way, the earliest tractors were all Whitworth, then to mostly SAE, by the very last tractors there were a few metric screws as well.

Only machines I know of that had Whitworth, SAE and metric threads on the same tractor.
