David Brown 990

I recently bought at auction a red 990 David Brown/not running. Where is the serial no. on this model? I have several 990's but all have been selectamatic. How much trouble to change it from implematic to selectamatic? Can it be done? I have extra tractors for parts. I would like to hear from any of you out there who have experience with the red 990. How much trouble is it to work on this implematic/hydralics?

hi charlie the serial no is on a plate near the seat not sure if its on the front or back it may be above the lift levers when i think of it maybe its gone there may be also a serial no just forward of the timing case on the casting that carries the front axle on the right side the starter motor side of the engine.as for changing to selectamatic hyds i think you will have to change the back axle its a big enough job refitting the difflock coupling is a very awkward job.you could try dbtc .com they have hyd schematics and user guides.hope this helps tom

Another question---The double-acting, control valve mounted on the distributor block---mine are stacked
How hard are they to overhaul if I can get the parts--what's involved or should I just get the whole unit replaced?
When you pull the fuel injection pump off--there is a line/mark on pump and on the housing. Is there anything else that you need to check to put it back like it was to check the timing?
