There are some grease fittings on my 990 that are supposed to get SAE 140. I just saw where the manual mentions an "oil gun." This is something new for me. Do most people just use the grease or actually use oil? Where do you get an oil gun?

Thanks.

hi oliver i normally use grease around the front axle where it the manual suggests sae 140,tried using 140 oil in a grease gun had no probs going thru the gun its thick enough to be liquid grease. tom

Thanks for the response. The manual also has it written that oil goes in the King Pin. I just can't see putting oil there or around the front axle like you mentioned.

I've been curious so I thought I would ask. I didn't realize you could put oil through a grease gun. News to me.

Thanks again.

Originally the DB front axle parts were mostly O-ring sealed. Oil would stay in place an be a somewhat superior lube.

What do you suppose has happened to the 40+ year old O-rings by now? Grease is much better than being dry. I use grease on mine.
