David Brown 995-996

Looking for some info on David Brown. What is the difference between a 995 & 996? What is the difference between live drive & non live drive? The 6-speed trans has a shorter PTO drive shaft than the 12 speed. Were these tractors longer or why the different length? Thanks, Dave

hi dave the 995 has the same clutch as a 990 which disengages the the pto disc using the clutch pedal,the 996 has the same clutch as 1200/10/and some 1212 which uses a hand lever for stopping the drive to engage/disengage the pto,the 996 is longer because of the clutch.engines are identical on the 995/6 also 1200/10/12 they use different inj pumps and have more power the engines used on these models are 4/55. the 996 would be classed as live drive in that you could stop the pto without stopping the tractor by using the hand lever, the 990/995 you would have to ues the clutch pedal to stop the pto which would stop the tractor. hope this helps tom
