I recently acquired a 1968 DB 4600 selectomatic. It's in good shape, clean, and seems like the perfect loader tractor for what I invested. Knowing that Tenneco/Case acquired the company in the '80's can anyone tell me is there a similar model in the Case line to the 4600. I also know that DB supplied Oliver w/ there 500 model in early '70's. Does either of these help me for parts or manuals?

I've never heard of that model, but I don't know much about Brown's generally.
What I do know is that Case had been trying for a long time to forget that they bought Brown and that's strongly reflected in the parts department. Others I know with 880's 990's 1200's etc tell me that it hasn't improved... They always seem to scrounge the parts they need in the aftermarket or used.
Manuals... you may be able to get as reprints from Case. I know NH is quite good about supplying some of the more obscure old Ford manuals yet, so Case might be worth a try...

hi greg the db 4600 is a gas version of a db 780 same size engine i&t have a workshop manual number c-203 for db tractors the 3800 and 4600 is in this manual if you need a workshop manual.i tkink most ops manuals are available from your case dealer.tenneco/case bought db in 1972 and closed the in march 88.hope some of this helps you

Maybe that is because DB in England is long gone the factory has been shut down for a long time now so where would even Case IH get parts ? Case IH did a bad job of supporting those tractors after they were 3 to 5 years old let alone now. We had a Case / DB 380 and it took metric, inch, and whitworth tools to work on the stupid thing. Case IH changed the air filter setup and later on couldn't supply a filter anymore for it so had to modify a MF 135 filter assembly for it so could still get air elements. Glad to be rid of that tractor.

thanks for your replies. It seems that my cronology was a bit off. The insight is helpful and will give me some resources to exhaust. But, I sense a bit of frustration in the reply. We have to remember what site we're at. The 28-50 HP, 310 b Case crawler, and Model T conversion that sit in the shed don't have dealer support either, but I ain't calling the rendering truck just yet.
