I have an original 48 8N with the original Davis lift. All works fine but now the cylinder that tilts the bucket back and forth is leaking. Maybe I can get it rebuilt here in Las Vegas but history has shown me here that the cost may equal a new part. Does anyone know where I can get one and about how much?

I doubt youcan get a direct replacement for the OEM cylinder. Plenty of sources for generic DA cylinders - may require some fabrication if the OEM unit has non-standard mounting. Post a picture.

Maybe I'm not as familiar with the topic,but I ran a backhoe for a while,so I'll ask.Can you not repack the cylinder? If I'm offbase,just ignore.---lha
 
Leaking? A seal or is there a crack?

I was able to get this cylinder rebuilt on a Davis loader about 10 years ago at a local tractor shop. The guy didn't have any trouble finding the parts and it was pretty reasonable.

Nice loader but I really wanted to see the dump cylinder and how it attaches. The parts manual is online over on the N tractor club website. From the drawing in the parts manual that cylinder looks to be generic and a new bolt on replacement can be purchased for something in the $150-$250 range. Or you can send the old one out for repair.

its a davis skyline loader. the cylinder can be rebuilt for about 30 dollors in parts, any heavy euipment or truck shop should be able to match up the seals.
