Davis roller mill

Does anyone have info on a davis brand roller mill. I can buy it for $250 but it doesn't come with a power source. The gentleman that selling it says it can run with a pto or electric motor. Any idea how much pto hp or the size of electric motor needed and any idea of the output.

Sounds like a jockey selling it- no real knowledge re drives, pulley diameters, power requirements, etc. I can"t help on that either, but I wouldn"t touch it without accurate prior knowledge of requirements. When you get it powered up, the original $250 cost is likely to be the smallest check you write.

He said he took the motor to run a silo blower, but didn't say anything about the specs. I looked at couple other brands that were complete, but they were all 3phase. I only have 240v single phase available. Thats why i was hoping i could run this off a tractor. It has the 6 spline shaft for pto. Not sure where or how the electric motor was hooked to it. Thinking maybe with a v belt.

what are the measurements of the mill i.e. roller size 10x20? I would venture a guess if its that size or smaller a 35 horse tractor should run it no problem. and yes the driveline will probably cost more than the mill. but if anyone has priced a roller mill lately you wont touch one under 10000, new. If the rollers are decent I say go for it. I run a 9x17 mill with a "R" Moline and never want for power. they don't take a lot of power to operate.
