I"m still considering the purchase of the1212. 1200 hours said
to run and operate great with one exception. The 3 point will
not lift. Tractor has been sitting for 3 years. Owner indicates
that he has been told by Case dealer that it is a simple fix
likely a stuck check valve due to sitting so long. Sounds like a
reasonable story but you never know. What do you think? Is it
too risky? Worst case what"s the cost of a fix if its not a check
valve? Would you take the risk? Asking $3500 but made a
big point of willing to take offers. It is a couple hours away so I
need to be pretty certain before I go look. I"m thinking of a
$2800 offer but only if I am fairly sure of a cheap fix. I need a
tractor to pull a baler soon for little money. Don"t need the 3
point for that job but will need it fixed for other uses.

There is a valve beside the remote valve thar combines the tandem pump to double the remote flow if it is pushed in the three point will not work or half the pump could be bad you can buy the whole pump for 600 hundred dollars

Even a bad pump will work somewhat.

The likely causes are either the pump has lost its prime, about 10 minutes to get the air out. Or a stuck valve in the valve chest, 15 minutes to 8 hours depending on which valve and how stuck it is. Both problems are low to no money just some time and messing around.

RG, just had a 1290 that wouldn't lift, cleaned and checked the pressure balanced poppets, removed the orfice plate and cleaned, reinstalled to no result. Behind the poppet access area I saw the spool valve, a slight push on it and the hitch popped up, working good now, probably just a small fragment temporarily wedged in there.

Thanks all. So you are saying that if this appears to be the only significant issue and a purchase price of $2800 to 3000 is in the ball park?

I have a 990 that did that every once in a while. Maybe 15 times over a year, I just carried a big Phillips and a big slotted screwdriver in the tool box. Easier than tearing the whole tractor apart to work on the valve.

It has been fine for the last couple years, probably just a bit of crud it had to pass.
