I have a Ford 5000 and DB 99) Selectamatic. I ALWAY would rather use the DB because is diesel is so quiet compared to the 5000 diesel.

Hey, what grade oil do you use the the Trans/hydr box?
Also.....
I remember it took a lot,.... but can you recall the quantity it takes?

A total fill on a clean dry transmission will take about 6 US gallons. In actual practice on a drain and change filter you will only get a little over 5 gallons. Too many nooks and crannies that hold oil.

Most any oil will work, I have been told they were shipped with 20W20 mototr oil. I have used 15W40 with good results. Any of the Hytran type fluids should work OK in the tractors that have a bypass on their filter.
