DB1200 won't start

My 1200 won't start. Was running then shut off. No fuel coming from Injection pump. Someone suggested, the timing gears are stripped. I took the cover off in front of Injection pump. I can see 2 gears turning, teeth look ok. ?

So is there fuel getting to the lift pump? Is the lift pump pumping fuel? Is fuel getting through the filters? I know that it would be strange for filters to plug almost instantaneously. Pull the timing window off the pump, is anything turning in there? Check your PM by clicking the envelope looking icon by the bell, there will be some info for you in there.

Keep it simple, yes timing gears can crash, but not near as likely as a plugged line, or bad lift pump push rod, simply running it out of fuel.

DO you have white smoke out the exhaust when cranking?

do you have fuel to the injection pump? out of the lift pump? follow the pipes back to the tank.

You would get white smoke if it was getting fuel though the pump even if the timing was off. Any change if you use the cold start button?

is this tractor new to you? On most DBs, including 1200s, "out" on the handle is "run" on the fuel shut off.

Also checking the timing gears won't tell you much unless you pull the radiator and take off the whole timing cover. Because of the gear arrangement they only line up every 47th(?) rotation of the crankshaft.

Cold start button is on the pivot for the shut off on the injector pump. Push it in, and it will click. only works with shut off in the run position.
